Every real deal supercar must surely prove its metal on the racetrack. Nissan have long raced their ‘GT-R’ badged cars and in many instances over the years smashed the opposition with their intense application of terminal velocity technology.
The 2012 model Nissan GT-R Nismo GT3 had a good year this year winning races all over the world in the various sportscar series, including Super GT, Super Taikyu, the British GT Championship and the GT Cup. Classes which dictate that the cars must – in many ways – remain faithful to the specification in which they left the factory, but, depending on the level of the series, with increasing levels of tuning allowed. But, the racecar base must be potent, with built–in racer potential, right from the start. And the GT-R has done brisk business.
And so now we see the 2013 Nissan GT-R Nismo GT3. Ain’t she pretty? The major upgrades for this newest car are to engine performance and durability, aerodynamic performance, brake balance, suspension settings to suit the new aerodynamics package, and new gear ratios to optimize the extra engine output. All the good stuff, basically.
Revisions to the 3.8-litre V6 twin-turbo engine are the biggest news for the GT-R; including new camshaft timing. Some engine parts were also toughened up to greater guarantee durability.
Several modifications were also made to enhance the new car’s aerodynamics. Canards were added to the front bumper and the front wing vents were enlarged, while the positioning of the (massive!) rear wing was tweaked to push the downforce even harder.
The new Nissan GT-R Nismo GT3 will be built on demand and they can only build a limited number. So, if you want one and you’re quick enough for it, pop your £300,000 (approx.) over to the Nismo chaps and get dreaming of delivery day.
