If you’re in the market for a new ‘used’ HD Truck then you’ll want to know what your best options are. We have done the hard work for you and discovered the top 5 Trucks for a reasonable budget.

The trucks listed here are gas/petrol run, however because some of us are fans of diesel we have included the closest diesel version to each as well. Every one of these trucks has their own strengths to weigh. We would highly recommend going to view and test drive at least three from this list, to get a feel for them before choosing one. Without further ado here are the best trucks under 25k currently available:

GMC Sierra 2500HD (V8, 6L, 2016)

For this price you’ll be looking at somewhere around 120,000 miles or slightly higher on the odometer. However, the Sierra has more standard features than you’d expect in a similar Chevy. For under 25k you can get one with four wheel drive, crew-cab, and a Vortec 6L engine. If you’re after great features for a great price this truck definitely deserves one of your top 3 spots. It’s a solid, dependable brand as well, and easy to get repaired if needed.

Best Diesel Version: Sierra 2500HD Duramax Diesel (V8, 6.6L, 2013)

2013 appears to be the best year for the Duramax diesel version of the Sierra. You may actually find Denali models within this price range and around 100 thousand miles on them as well. This is a 4WD truck with good mileage options, most often crew cab configuration.

Nissan Titan XD (V8, 5.6L, 2018)

For the Nissan Titan 2018 appears to be the best model. This truck is not as easily found as some other options. It is worth looking for though, and will likely give you the best bang for your buck. It’s not technically HD but we have included it because it’s very close as a GVWR class XD pick up truck. For 25k you should be able to find a Titan with less than 50k mileage, which is a bonus. The not quite HD and the smaller 5.6L engine are well balanced by the low mileage and decent features of this vehicle.

Best Diesel Version: Nissan Titan XD Cummins Diesel (V8, 5L, 2016)

This model often goes unnoticed. You can easily pick yourself up a great quality platinum trim one of these with approximately 100 thousand miles on it.

Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD (V8, 6L, 2018)

This is probably the most well known and widely circulated of this list. You should be able to find any cab type of the Silverado for under 25k from 2018 and below. Chevrolet has been fitting them with Vortec V8 engines for almost twenty years. Even if you go a few models back from the 2018 you’ll still get decent features and power. This particular model is two wheel drive rather than 4 wheel though. In order to get the newer 4 wheel drive versions your budget may need to increase.

Best Diesel Version: Silverado 2500HD Duramax Diesel (V8, 6.6L, 2016)

2016 is the last year of the Duramax LML model. In Diesel you will likely be looking at 100 -150 thousand miles on the odometer, and most will be 4WD extended cab or crew type.

Ford F-250 Super Duty (V8, 6.2L, 2018)

This super duty pick up has some really sleek design features, good sized fuel capacity and a larger cab. You actually can find the 2020 model for around 25k however you won’t be able to find the same cab size. The 2020 model is a long-bed single cab work truck. But if you’re looking for the larger cab model you’ll need to find this 2018 version.

Best Diesel Version: Ford F-250 Super Duty Power Stroke Diesel (V8, 6.7L, 2016)

There are so many options with this truck for under 25k. You can get high end trims for the price range, however the odometer will then be higher. Alternatively you could go for one with less than 50 thousand miles and a slightly simpler trim such as XL or XLT.

Ram 2500 (V8, 6.4L, 2017)

The Ram 2500 is one of the cheapest options in this list, while still having low mileage and great features. The actual driving experience in this truck may well be the best as well. This is due to it’s exclusive link-coil rear suspension. You will usually find this truck with a crew cab configuration 4WD. It also comes with high end SLT trim. Take this one out for a test drive and see how it feels.

Best Diesel Version: Ram 2500 Cummins Diesel I-6 (2014, 6.7L)

This is the most popular year for the Diesel Ram 2500. In order to get a 4 wheel drive version though you’ll be looking at mileage closer to 200,000, you can get one with much better mileage but would have to compromise to 2 wheel drive, single cab or lesser trims.
