BMW M3

60 special BMW M3s and M5s are coming to the UK, and only we get them. Which is nice

The UK market is being treated to a limited run of the new M Performance Editions for the BMW M3 and M5. Thirty of each model will be made by BMW M GmbH and they're exclusively for Britain.

If you have a lazy £74,080 lying around the M3 M Performance Edition is yours, or you could bother the bank manager and get yourself the M5 M Performance Edition, a snip at £95,140.

There's a 420bhp V8 engine, seven-speed gearbox and variable M differential to play with on the M3. The Competition Package is standard – this includes 10mm lowered suspension, Electronic Damper Control with Sport mode and a revised traction control system.

Meanwhile, the M5 version offers a stupendous 560bhp from the twin turbo V8 engine. There's a race-bred chassis, Active M diff, electronic damping control – in short, there's a shedload of kit worth £22,075 on this bad boy as standard.

This is all part of the BMW Individual line-up and these limited editions will bring three new paint colours from the Frozen range to the showroom. Of course there are some funky paint names going on here – BMW Individual Japan Red with a Frozen Red wrap, BMW Individual Frozen White and BMW Individual Frozen Blue.

Inside, the upholstery is black Merino leather with contrast stitching in Mugello Red, Lotus White or Tobago Blue. The attention to detail goes right down to the contrast piping on the floor mats, Alcantara leather steering wheel, and Piano Black interior trim with a laser-cut "One of 30" designation, just so that everyone knows you're in the money.

Add to all this the black alloy wheels – 19 inches for M3 and 20 inches for the M5, dark chrome exhaust, jet black air intakes on the bonnet and a Harmon/Kardon 13-speaker audio system and you've got the ultimate car for track days. Or dragging off people at the lights…
