Vauxhall has introduced the newest edition of its popular Meriva model, which will include the introduction of a diesel engine.

The new look Meriva will combine quality engineering with a class-leading Euro-6 standard diesel engine, which is expected to make it extremely attractive when it hits the UK market next month (November).

Just three years after it launched the second-generation model, Vauxhall is already readjusting and innovating the Meriva. Released in 2010, the car revolutionised the compact MPV class by introducing its clever FlexDoors system. The market has never seen anything like the rear-hinged rear doors, which allow a 20 per cent larger opening for passengers. However, the innovation didn't stop there as the company also added its unique FlexSpace system, which gives rear passengers the choice of a number of different seating combinations.

That's not all the changes that Vauxhall have made for this brand-new diesel Meriva. The new look brings a grille, chrome accents that frame the front fog lamps and newly-designed headlamps with an ‘eagle-eye’ graphic. Customers can even select for the first time whether they want LED daytime running lights and LED tail lights. Finishing off the visual changes, there is also optional 18-inch alloy wheels, which complement the new-look Meriva perfectly.

A lot of customers won't be able to get past the fact that Vauxhall has finally brought its 1.6 CDTi diesel engine to the Meriva. The Euro-6 compliant engine is already setting a high benchmark in the industry for efficiency and refinement, as well as delivering 136PS and 320Nm of torque at 2,000rpm. Despite this, the engine still manages to achieve a remarkable 64.2mpg combined and 116g/km of CO2 emissions. This is a ten per cent improvement in emissions on its predecessor – the 1.7 CDTi.

The diesel 1.6 CDTi model is capable of reaching 60mph in just 9.1 seconds, while the petrol Meriva’s is now also fully Euro-6 compliant.

As with all Vauxhalls, the new-look Meriva brings a lifetime warranty, which gives owners peace of mind up to 100,000 miles.
