Toyota’s Frankfurt family
Wednesday, 7 September 2011 10:20 AM
Another shadowy, pre-Frankfurt shot from a car manufacturer – this time it is the new Toyota Avensis to be launched next week. We can’t see much in the pic but soon all will be revealed about the touted improved styling, powertrains and driving dynamics.
Will the big investment in this model by Toyota mean a hybrid or electric powertrain? We’ll all have to be patient on that one but, speaking of hybrids, the updated Prius as well as the Prius Plug-In and Prius+, Europe’s first seven-seater hybrid will also be unveiled in Frankfurt. The Prius+ is the most advanced version yet with CO2 emissions around the 49g/km mark. So far, Toyota have sold 2.3 million of Priuses worldwide.
For those who like it rugged on and off the road, the new-look 2012 Hilux will be on show so we can check out not only the new exterior but the more passenger car-like interior. And if you want to keep it small, economical and easy to park, the three-door version of the new Yaris will be on the Toyota stand as well.
New Prius hits 49g/km of CO2. That’s low
