The UK new car market is all about crossover cars at the moment – the taller, higher-riding cars usually based on a hatchback-size chassis. Peugeot have announced prices for their new small crossover to rival the best-selling Nissan Qashqai – the 2008; based on the new 208 hatchback – and it will be available to buy from July.
With a starting price of £12,995, the 2008 can be had for around £1,000 on top of the price of a similar spec 208 hatchback, and this will no doubt appeal to families. The 2008 crossover range is made up of four trim levels; Access+, Active, Allure & Feline, and features the latest range of Peugeot’s modern, fuel efficient engines.
Economy figures of note will be the lowest CO2 emissions number of 98g/km, with the highest quoted combined economy figure of 74.3mpg attributed to the new 3-cylinder VTi 82bhp petrol engine, as already seen in the 208 hatchback.
The 2008 crossover also enjoys as standard a new of Grip Control feature on the Allure and Feline models, which looks for the best grip in slippery conditions, along with the ‘Mud & Snow’ tyres. Perfect for the British summer!
