It’s big, it’s curvy and it’s a car not an SUV. Other than that, the Hyundai HCD-14 is an auto-mystery

Hyundai Veloster Turbo SE

This Veloster Turbo SE is mean-looking proof that Hyundai really know how to design real cars these days, that still have a little look of the concept car about them

Hyundai has not released any details with this teaser image (below) of the latest concept car design to come out of their California design studio, other than its intriguing-sounding name; HCD-14, and the fact that it’ll be aimed towards the top end of the Hyundai range of cars.

The new HCD-14 concept car will come to life at the 2013 North American International Auto Show, or Detroit Motor Show to use its more familiar name, and Hyundai promise that it’ll “give the automotive world a glimpse into future Hyundai premium vehicle design, advanced 3-D gesture-based technology controls, and spirited driving dynamics.”

Well, that all certainly sounds nifty enough, but many savvy motoring fans out there will sniff and snear that we’ve not seen a jazzy Hyundai concept car make it into production yet, so what’s the difference with the HCD-14? Good things come to those who wait, people. Possibly…

The HCD-14 concept will be revealed at the Detroit show at 3pm (their time, 8pm our time), on January 14, and we’ll grab you all the extra images and spec info as soon they pull the covers off it.

The new HCD-14 concept car looks the part. But will they build it?
