Frankfurt Motor Show 2011 – Review part 1

The 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show – the 64th edition – is very much in full swing right now, in the sausage-famous city. Doors opened on Tuesday for all the international press peeps; they came back for more on Wednesday, and now it’s Thursday and it’s all about the public punters taking a look around at all that is new, fresh, fast and frugal in automotive world, until the show closes on Sunday.

There’s plenty to see in the vast halls with some vast manufacturer stands – like this mini-motor-city from VW – and around 70 new models and concepts on show for the first time. It’s time for those computer-generated images to come to life under the bright show lights; with pixels becoming metal, carbon-fibre, leather and plastic.

Early reports are that it’s one of the most buzzing and busy automotive events in years, and while we’re not out of the darker-economic-woods just yet, there are clearly inspired and hopeful new products to try and tease our hard-earned new-car-cash from our precious pockets.

Pop over and take a stroll around yourself (take some comfy shows because there’s about 4kms of winding show stands to negotiate), or get yourself a brew on as we round up all that is fresh 'n' tasty in the world of human transport…
