The new Renault Zoe on show today
Wednesday, 18 April 2012 2:51 PM
Today, that's Tuesday, Renault's all-electric Zoe supermini, will be making its first UK public appearance. There were some slightly unhinged parents in France who tried to sue Renault over the name Zoe as it was also their daughter's name, but it looks like commonsense has prevailed and the car keeps the cool name when it is unleashed at Silverstone.
No, it's not making its race debut at the famous track, rather it is the site of the EV & Low CO2 Fleet Show at the Northamptonshire circuit. It will be in a static display alongside the Twizy electric quadricycle which eco-car fans will be able to take for a spin.
The Zoe is priced at £13,650 plus £70 a month for the lease of the battery for three years/6,000 miles a year.
Other highlights at the show will include a range-extended all-electric Vauxhall Ampera in police livery and the new Peugeot 208 supermini, which has one petrol and three diesel engines all under the 99g/km mark which goes on sale in June. There will also be a couple of diesel-electric hybrids, the Peugeot 508 RXH and the new 200bhp DS5 Hybrid4, with fuel consumption of 74.3mpg and CO2 emissions of 99g/km.
Cool commercial vehicles available for driving include the new Edison and Newton models from Smith Electric Vehicles, plus Renault’s 100% electric Kangoo Van Z.E. The show will also feature major players in the recharging industry such as ABB, Ecar Connectors, ENSTO, Siemens, Schneider and Rolec Services.
