Ducati Streetfighter: The Ferrari on two wheels

If you have recently been browsing Ducati motorcycles in the hope of investing in a new set of wheels then one model that is almost certain to have caught your eye is the Streetfighter.
With a choice between either the standard or sports model, whichever you end up selecting you can be sure that you are about to set out on the ride of your life.
Indeed, some bikers would even go so far as to call the machine a Ferrari on two wheels, thanks to its speed, control and sleek style.
The first 1098 hit the forecourts in 2007 and it has been a firm favourite ever since, thanks to its classic design that harks back to some of Ducati's earlier models.
A few years after its inception, the machine was replaced by a new machine, but that has done little to dampen bikers' enthusiasm for it in the intervening years and many dealers may still find they enjoy a roaring trade selling the used vehicles.
And no wonder when it has so many amazing features. Among these are specifications of 9,500 rotations per minute, an L-twin cylinder engine and a classic colour palette of red, black and pearl white.
With a dry weight of just 169 kg, the 1098S version will accelerate you down the road with force – 170 horse power (HP) to be exact.
However, perhaps its main appeal is the sheer abundance of World Superbike technology housed within its shiny and raw shell – you may prefer your rides to be of the leisure variety, but no matter where you are you will feel as though you have just pulled out on to the racetrack when you are on this beast.
Boasting a 1098 Testastretta Evoluzione engine, amazing features have been added to this like top-of-the-class suspension, light chassis components and a traction control system that looks as though it has come off a racing bike but has actually been designed for road use.
With 87.5lb-ft of torque, you can really enjoy the thrill of going full throttle when you ride one of these as this Streetfighter is by far the most advanced naked bike in its class.
Perhaps the crowning glory is the Traction Control system it is kitted out with, which will fool you into believing that the price tag of this motor must be far higher than it actually is.
And don't make the mistake of thinking that the standard model is any less of a hit.
The 1098 version boasts 155HP and is the same lightweight 169 kgs, thanks to being stripped of all but the bare essentials.
This allows you to really be propelled when you hit the road and means that this model too really stands out from the crowd when it comes to its power-to-weight ratio.
Indeed, that's the thing about these motorcycles – even when they are parked up on the drive they look as though they are racing!
And because of their enduring popularity you have little reason to worry that when it comes to having a service you will be unable to locate the correct Ducati parts, as there are many dealers who are sure to be able to help you out.
So what are you waiting for? Come and take one of these two-wheel Ferraris out for a test drive today. It won't be long before you are taking one home!
